The Choir of Trinity College: Concert @ St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday 21st October @ 7.30pm …

In Moving Into Music Monthly|October, Principal Lauris Hing writes:

“Dear Moving Into Music students, families and friends,

Recently the world watched on witnessing a significant moment in time. The funeral of HRH Elizabeth 11, was marked with ceremonial pageantry. The magnificently sombre funeral marches of Beethoven, Mendlessohn and Chopin, played at 72 beats per minute by military bands, led processions. Bells tolled, choirs sang hymns which soared and echoed through the arches of Westminster Abbey. Musical offerings were central to marking the passing of the monarch. Cathedrals the world over held services … St Paul’s Cathedral in Melbourne was one of these.
In October, St Paul’s will host a musical event for our local – the Choir of Trinity College. Moving Into Music has strong connections to this choir whose membership has included MIM staff and students.
In this Monthly we take pleasure in promoting the upcoming concert of the choir.”

Moving Into Music is a strong supporter of the Choir of Trinity College. Many friends and family have sung with this esteemed choir … more recently, MIM piano teacher Zac Hamilton-Russell and composer Daniel Riley whose musical education began and developed over many years with Moving Into Music. We urge you to take the opportunity to hear this wonderful choir sing in the beautiful setting of Melbourne’s St Pauls Cathedral.
Meanwhile at the home of the choir, the Chapel of Trinity College, University of Melbourne, the pipe organ is being refurbished.
