Posted by In November, Moving Into Music preparations for the Christmas Concert move into top gear. The students and teachers are busy arranging, practising and polishing their items. We very much look forward to this year’s concert which signals the return to a LIVE Christmas Concert – the first since 2019 … and also because it marks a wonderful anniversary – the 20th Moving Into Music Christmas Concert. We lost two years to Covid but to recap … in 2000 our inaugural concert was held at MLC, in the Assembly Hall, before the days of the current Music School & Auditoriums on site today. At that concert many young pre-school children performed, as did the very first piano students of Moving Into Music. Among them were piano students Daniel Riley and Ria Szeredi. Daniel, will return as the special guest performer to open this 2022 Christmas Concert. Ria, a data scientist in Silicon Valley, USA, is represented by her mother Samantha who will manage the MLC Foyer and Ushering, as she has for all previous MIM concerts. She will greet you on Concert Day in the foyer.
On Concert Day, you will also meet our new drums & percussion teacher, Pelaya Arapakis. Read about her in the feature article earlier. In addition, we have featured a young piano student Diya and her dad, chef Daman. We applaud their remarkable food contributions via the DDs Kitchen blog and charity work during Covid lockdowns which continues to this day – they are truly inspirational.
