MOVING INTO MUSIC – ONLINE CONCERT 4: Sunday 21st June @ 11.00am

Term 2 ended on 21st June with the final of our online concert series.

Concert 4 – guitar students of Lewis Osmant and Genaaron Diamente alongside a drum student of Luke Andresen completed the lineup.

Of significance is that this was an international line-up  – students from the Kew studios all of them … but now learning online in Melbourne and in Hong Kong. As such this is the first MIM International Concert! We are very proud of this … and mindful that this could be a new normal.

International teaching has been with us at MIM for a couple of years now … piano teacher Linh, teaching students in Hanoi from her Melbourne base, was the first we embarked upon. Now Lewis teaches in the UK and Luke in Hong-Kong – so we are pleased to be at the vanguard with this.

Today’s guitar students played with such aplomb. Their nimble fingers showed flexibility and fluidity which was wonderful to see in the close-up views which a Zoom concert affords.

Performances of Rock, Pop and Classical guitar – music from many legends – was a treat to behold in the hands of our students. Their emerging skill is testament to their effort and dedication over this difficult term as well as evidence of the quality of their teachers. Excellent job – everyone!

Nate, Luke’s young drum student, was our marathon man – he performed the whole of Billie Jean, 5 minutes worth, a huge effort. We could see him working hard, drumsticks flying – nailing the rhythms with ease. His talent was clear for all to see.

The concert concluded with teacher performances. Luke, demonstrating in no uncertain terms, with his solo 5/4 Blues why drummers rule the realm of rhythm!

Lewis played Waiting For, one of his own compositions, … again showing that he is a multi-faceted musician … one of many talents. He is emerging as a composer, with international interest in his work. This year has begun the serious compilation of his compositions which can now be viewed online – so take a look!

A wonderful concert – take a further bow all those who were involved!
